Hallo zusammen,

Katharina Smakman hat von einer Anhöhe in der Nähe von Queenstown trotz Wolken einiges durch die Sofi Brille sehen können und Fotos gemacht. Sobald ich Bilder habe zeige ich sie hier.

Chris Walker at McMurdo in Antarctica writes: "This is what it looks like toward the position of the Sun...the best we can tell!...out of the 2nd floor window at Crary Lab in McMurdo, Antarctica. The temp is around 15F, windy, and snowy... Sounds like Thanksgiving weather alright, but wait, it's summer here..."

From Darik Velez, Cape Town, South Arfica: "The weather over here was clear and calm. The cameras misbehaved somewhat (I'm afraid I haven't had much practice photographing the Sun!). But our small digital camera through the telescope actually caught a few that definitely show the partial (though the focus is a tad off and there are some optical features from the filter & telescope). You can actually see four sunspots in a line -- confirmed because they move with the Sun on successive photos."

Jay Pasachoff from Invercargill, New Zeadland writes:
"I am in Invercargill ... after a clearing afternoon it rained for a while. ... the rain stopped ... We got a few seconds of view through a hole in the clouds about 20 min before maximum. ... 10 min before the maximum of about 8:40 pm, and the Sun is still in a bank of clouds that extends upward from 4 degrees above the horizon.
About 5 min before the 8:40 peak, the sky cleared, and we saw the eclipsed sun clearly, with clouds occasionally drifting by, for about 15 min. now it is 17 min before the end and the sun has gone into a low cloudbank.
After an in-and-out, off-and-on-rain day, we are very pleased."

Katharina Smakman went up a hill in the Queenstown area to watch the partial solar eclipse on the evening of 25th November 2011. A beautiful setting but lots of clouds in the sunset direction.
