Chris Walker at McMurdo in Antarctica writes: "This is what it looks like toward the position of the Sun...the best we can tell!...out of the 2nd floor window at Crary Lab in McMurdo, Antarctica. The temp is around 15F, windy, and snowy... Sounds like Thanksgiving weather alright, but wait, it's summer here..." |

From Darik Velez, Cape Town, South Arfica: "The weather over here was clear and calm. The cameras misbehaved somewhat (I'm afraid I haven't had much practice photographing the Sun!). But our small digital camera through the telescope actually caught a few that definitely show the partial (though the focus is a tad off and there are some optical features from the filter & telescope). You can actually see four sunspots in a line -- confirmed because they move with the Sun on successive photos."

Katharina Smakman went up a hill in the Queenstown area to watch the partial solar eclipse on the evening of 25th November 2011. A beautiful setting but lots of clouds in the sunset direction. Katharina equipped to watch the eclipse: The eclipse near its maximum phase is still to bright for a standard digital camera: |
